In the summer of 1900, King Umberto I of Italy dined with his aide at a small restaurant in Monza. To his astonishment, the shopkeeper bore a striking resemblance to the king, and after conversing, they discovered they had much in common: they were born on the same day, married on the same day, and even shared the same names for their children. Even more remarkably, the shopkeeper had been awarded honors alongside the king for his bravery in battle in 1866 and 1870.

Fascinated by this coincidence, the king decided to bestow a knighthood upon the shopkeeper the following day and invited him to the award ceremony. However, just as the king was about to fulfill his promise, the shopkeeper tragically died in an accidental shooting. The king was deeply shocked by the news and insisted on attending the shopkeeper's funeral. Not long after, the king himself was assassinated, leading to his untimely death.
