The Southern Song Imperial Tombs are located in Paikou Village, Shangjiang Township, Gaobu Town, Shaoxing County. This site serves as the burial ground for six emperors, including Emperor Gaozong of Song. The selection process for the location was quite complicated, beginning in 1131. After the death of Empress Dowager Longyou, the ministers decided to temporarily bury her in Jiangnan, with plans to relocate her after reclaiming the Central Plains. Ultimately, due to the fortuitous location of Qinglong Mountain, the Southern Song Imperial Tombs were established here. However, after the Southern Song dynasty fell in 1278, a monk from the Yuan dynasty named Yang Lianzhen plundered the tombs, resulting in the theft of numerous precious artifacts and the desecration of the emperors' remains, leading to chaos in the burial site. After several restorations during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Six Tombs of Song continue to carry a rich historical memory to this day.
