During the Taiping Rebellion, a vast amount of treasure was hidden within the Heavenly King's palace, but the ultimate fate of these riches remains a historical mystery. In 1853, the Taiping forces captured Nanjing and established Tianjing. When Tianjing fell in 1864, the Xiang army conducted extensive searches but seemingly failed to uncover all the treasures. Legends suggest that these riches were buried beneath the Heavenly King's palace, yet their exact location remains unknown to this day. Zeng Guofan once pressured Li Xiucheng for information about the location of the hidden jewels, but he was never able to confirm it. Although historical records indicate that the Taiping Rebellion indeed had hidden gold, whether these treasures were completely plundered by the Xiang army or still lie buried somewhere is still an unsolved mystery.
