In 1861, French biologist Henri Mouhot ventured deep into the jungles of Cambodia with four servants in search of a rare butterfly. They faced numerous dangers in the jungle, and his servants were too superstitious to continue. However, Mouhot pressed on and ultimately discovered the forgotten city of Angkor. This majestic city, home to hundreds of towers and exquisite carvings, was mysteriously abandoned after 1431, and the reasons for its disappearance remain a puzzle to this day.
