As far as we know, Earth is the only planet that supports life. What are the unique features of Earth that are vital for human existence?

Among the nine planets, Earth is perfectly positioned at the right distance from the Sun. It is the third planet from the Sun, approximately 150 million kilometers away, allowing it to absorb sunlight in moderation, making it a natural greenhouse for nurturing life. Unlike Mercury and Venus, which are scorched by the Sun, or the outer planets that are neglected by it.

Earth's mass is also pivotal among the nine planets. Its mass is equivalent to the median of other planets, providing enough gravity to maintain an atmosphere without being so massive like Jupiter or Saturn that it cannot sustain a stable atmospheric environment.

Only Earth carries all the essential materials needed for life. Water covers more than half of the planet, accounting for 70%, while oxygen and other gases surround the Earth, readily available for living organisms. The continuous cycle of oxygen, water, and food supplies an endless provision of resources for life.

Earth's surface is vibrant and alive. The clouds above shift constantly, and pressure, temperature, and humidity change rapidly. Looking deeper, we find that Earth is a moist planet, with water covering 71% of its surface and land making up the remaining 29%. The average elevation of land is 840 meters above sea level, with the largest landmasses known as continents. The surface of the continents is a riot of colors, with thick ice caps at the poles, lush tropical rainforests at the equator, vast deserts, and green grasslands. Upon arriving on Earth, one is captivated by the diverse forms of life. The biosphere, covering 5 million square kilometers and extending about 3,000 meters deep, tightly wraps around the Earth, where the vast majority of plants, animals, and humans reside, reproduce, and narrate countless life stories, giving Earth its vibrancy.

Earth is the cradle of humanity. All explorations indicate that no other planet has been found that is as suitable for life as Earth. Living on this oasis is indeed a great fortune! There is no reason not to protect it and strive for its sustainable development.
