Currently, China is constructing the world's largest radio telescope, known as the FAST project, in Guizhou. This ambitious initiative aims to listen to cosmic radio waves from outer space and may even capture 'artificial signals' from extraterrestrial life. Led by researcher Nan Rendong from the National Astronomical Observatory, this project marks the first formal endeavor by Chinese scientists to search for alien life.
The FAST project utilizes the unique karst topography of the area to build a massive radio telescope with a diameter of 500 meters. This device functions like a giant satellite receiver, using a special metallic layer to reflect radio waves, creating a natural 'dish.' Typically, it is used to study cosmic radio waves within specific frequency bands, listening for natural information from the universe. When power is abundant, it can even transform into a 'transmitter,' sending greetings to potential extraterrestrial beings thousands of light-years away.
This project is not only a technological marvel but also an exploration of the unknown universe. With the advancement of the FAST project, humanity may uncover more mysteries regarding the existence of alien life.
